Hello! I'm Ashley, owner and photographer of Wild Roots Photography. So, how did I become a photographer? Well, I don't have the typical story about how I always had a passion for it. I actually lived a pretty rough life, I made really poor decisions , hung out with a rough crowd, and really wanted to be in the midst of anything crazy happening.
In 2017, I decided it was time to get my shit together and started working at a bar + grill in the middle of nowhere, and I loved it! My customers became family--- I found sincere people for the first time in my life that wanted to see my succeed. Well, my boss, he was the most amazing boss I've ever had, decided it was time to retire and sell the bar. The new owners were not people I was ever willing to work for again. So, me (I always have crazy ideas) go home that night and tell my boyfriend (now husband) that I'm going to be a photographer. His response, "ok."
The next day we were at Best Buy purchasing a camera. I had no idea about the different types of lens, or aperture, or shutter speed or even how to adjust exposure. So, here I am, I find a model to practice a session on. I'm shooting in automatic, pretending like I know what I'm doing. I went home after that, pulled my photos onto my Lightroom mobile app on my phone and threw some Lightroom presets on the pictures and I was so proud of myself. I look back today and I cringe. But, without that I wouldn't be where I am today.
